[Maced] Cloneing problems

Sorry for the cross post but am feeling very frustrated and really hope
someone can help.
Am trying to create a clone of a 10.5.3 installation of one of the new T4L
machines.
Had no problems imaging it when I had only reinstalled the system and all
the upgrades. Used Net Restore Helper, had the computer in Target Firewire
mode and linked to an Intel machine running 10.4.11
However now that I have all the software loaded and all the permissions,
preferences sorted out I keep getting a message saying that an error
occurred. Tried with both Net Restore Helper and Carbon Copy Cloner. The
total size with all software is under 15g.
Haven't yet tried making the image using Disk Utility?
Am wondering whether its worth trying:
a) using Disk utility
b) using another Leopard machine
or c) simply restarting the setup and cloning at regular intervals to try
and find what is causing the problem.
(at least I do have the system cloned.)
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
