Thanks Q
Have bit the bullet and bought it. The scare yesterday morning was
enough to get me off my backside and looking for a solution asap. At
299 it was certainly the right price. Even if it only lasts the 3
years of warranty then I have got my moneys worth. Have partitioned
into 2 sections one to backup both my Intel iMac and my laptop. The
other section is used to backup another firewire drive that I use to
store my photos, music and movies on. CCC is currently backing up the
laptop (10.4), Time machine did the iMac (10.5) yesterday and
Superduper has done the firewire drive over night. All future backups
scheduled for late at night and will now be incremental - so there
shouldn't be too much strain on the drive.
All seems well at the moment. As these are all done late at night I
am not too worried about the speed just the knowledge that my files
are safe in another place.
Thanks to those that offered advice.
