[Maced] External Drive Issue

Good advice from Quentin,
So try all that but just a heads up (and hopefully not the case for you) my
firewire port 'went' on me and usb still jugged away. Tried all the things
that Q mentioned even reset the PRAM (on some advice) ... but in the end had
to change the logic board as it was all connected - ibook g4.
