[Maced] external HD and firewire- possible reason

Hi Paula
Sounds intriguing, FireWire is supposed to be a hot plug technology the same
as USB. Thought we were over the days of having to power everything off just
to plug it in (SCSI, argh).
Maybe ... it's only an issue with devices that have their own power supply
as there isn't really a way to power down an FW powered drive before it's
powered up to be plugged in! Something like that. Will keep it in mind.
