[Maced] 10.3.9 vs 10.4 problem with Windows server

Still trying to figure out what is wrong with the system.
 
10.4 white iMacs - working without an issue. 10.3.9 - will not talk to
anything. Log in just doesn't happen no shakes just nothing. Machines are on
the network, have ip address etc just can't log in.
 
Can update these to 10.4 and that will solve the problem there.
 
Still in limbo with the eMacs - nothing is letting me get them running on
10.4  Tried the target mode the other day and it just sat there for over an
hour doing nothing.
 
Open to any suggestions!
