Hi Jenny
Yes you need cooling space.
If the laptops heat up too much it can effect the charge cycle, or worse.
Standing on the side to charge is OK, as long as the charger connection is on the upside.
A simple rack can be made using a plastic tub with a rubber scraper doormat on the bottom to cushion from shock. Make holes in the side with a drill and push dowel through to make the dividers.
Sit the chargers beside it in another tub to keep them neat.
Cheers
Dave

How are you handling the heat? I am over it and I'm hoping Autumn returns.
As we now have 6 laptops in each class room Gr3 -6 I am looking at ideas for charging them at the end of the day and the type of containers people use. We can't afford the 1500 dollar trolley types and was wondering if using plastic tubs that allow the laptops to stand up on their side with the end to attach the charger protuding is a good idea. Does it harm the laptops having them standing on their side and not sitting flat? Another idea I had was one of those plastic file stackers with one level for each laptop. How would that go? I know the laptops can get quite hot when they are charging so how do people work around the heat issue? Do you need to have air circulating around each laptop so they are not touching each other?
Many thanks from Jenny
PS.. If anyone could take a snap of their charging I would ove to see some different ideas.
